2017 NFB of Kentucky Technology and Business Symposium

Welcome, Everyone!
Todd Stephens, Michael Freholm and Angela Dehart, Presidents of the Technology Assistance Division (TAD), Entrepreneur Division and National Association Promoting the Use of Braille (NAPUB), respectively, want to welcome each and every one of you to the Fifth Annual TAD symposium!

When: Friday, September 22 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. with registration starting promply at 8:00 A.M.
Where: Hilton Garden Inn Northeast, 9850 Park Plaza Avenue, Louisville, KY 40241
Cost: $20, which includes lunch (free for Pre-Employment Transition Students who have pre-registered for this event by Friday, September 15th by emailing Todd at:Todd Stephens. In the body of your email, please provide your Full Name, Age, School Name, and VI Teacher.

Our special Guest will be Russ Leathem from the Louisville Chapter of SCORE Association. We will also have a segment on the agenda where Technologist, David Brown from Blind, Inc., located in Minneapolis, MN. will talk to us about Android accessibility for the blind/visually impaired. Blind, Inc. run by the National Federation of the Blind, is one of the nations's premier training centers for the blind/visually impaired. Technologists, Ryan Harvey and David Brown will have a face-off with their preferred platforms (Ryan with iOS and David with Android). Android or iOS, that is the question.

The 2017 NFB of Kentucky Technology and Business symposium will feature a panel of successful blind/visually impaired individuals in Sandra Williams, Jayne Seif, Lora Stephens, Michael Freholm and Bill Brooks who have many decades of work experience among them as well as tips on what it takes to be successful. They will be asked some of those probing questions that you are eager to ask. As time permits, they will take your questions as well.

What in the world is a symposium without fabulous door prizes? Don't worry, we have you covered! Don't miss this event filled with education, training and fun!
Remember, please arrive on Friday, September 22nd at 8 A.M. so that we can get you registered and seated. To ensure an accurate lunch count, please RSVP for this event by sending an email with your name to Todd. by Tuesday, September, 19th. For those professionals needing a receipt, we will email this to you with the email that you provide within 72 hours upon the conclusion of the symposium

NFB of Kentucky TAD Convention Raffle

There are certainly different strokes for different folks. What might be ideal for one may not be ideal for another. Therefore, it is crucial that we share what we know through qualified resource referrals and educated discussion.

The real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight. The real problem is the misunderstanding and lack of information that exists. If a blind person has proper training and opportunity, blindness can be reduced to a physical nuisance.

TAD Membership Dues

Please note, if you choose to pay your TAD dues online, you must first, enter in a dollar amount under "Item Price". TAD dues is $5 per person per year. After you enter in your desired dollar amount i.e. 5.00, 10.00, then press the "Update" button. Under "Item Total", you should see that field updated to your specified amount. Then, you can proceed to the payment section by either logging into your Pay Pal account or registering as a guest to make your payment.
