TAD News and Notes

NFB of Kentucky TAD State Convention Raffle

We are pleased to announce that Denise Franklin was the winner of the 2016 NFB Kentucky TAD raffle. Way to go Denise!

The 2016 TAD raffle was the "Legendary stay, dine and play package" from Caesars

This package includes a one night stay in the Caesars hotel (sun thru thurs), two food vouchers from a choice of Caesars "Legendary" dining establishments and two $10.00 free casino cash coupons.

There are certainly different strokes for different folks. What might be ideal for one may not be ideal for another. Therefore, it is crucial that we share what we know through qualified resource referrals and educated discussion.

This is really only a piece of the puzzle. Kentuckians are able to take a "test drive of many assistive technology hardware devices before making a final purchase. The Kentucky Assistive Technology Service Network KATS Network can lend many that opportunity. Now, these are all of the important pieces of the puzzle to empower us to make the very best decision regarding AT equipment.

Assistive Technology is without question, a very expensive investment. The initial purchase is also not without a costly recurring maintenance charge. Can we afford not to have all of the information? Can we really afford not to do our homework?

The real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight. The real problem is the misunderstanding and lack of information that exists. If a blind person has proper training and opportunity, blindness can be reduced to a physical nuisance.
